Victor Hitter, age 86, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls. Victor was born June, 11, 1931 in Monticello, MN the son of Agustav and Lillian (Starry) Hitter. His parents were owners of a family grocery so as he grew he worked in the store learning the business. Eventually he started his own Meat Market. Later he moved to Annandale where he was owner of Hitter’s Drive Inn. In 1979 he moved to a small farmstead near Detroit Lakes, where he met his wife Jean. On June 16, 1984 Victor and Jean (Anderson) Engebretson were married at Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake near Pelican Rapids. He was active in sports during high school. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, gardening, feeding the birds, yard work, motorcycling, snowmobiling, camping and we cannot forget his hobby of taping sports on numerous VCR’s. Victor is survived by his wife, Jean; grandsons: Benjamin and Brian, two stepdaughters: Terry (Pat Schroeder) Engebretson of Sioux Falls, Nancy (Jason Stein) Engebretson of Bend, Oregon; stepsons: Eric (Jami) Engebretson of Medford, Oregon, Kurt Engebretson of Prineville, Oregon; four step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Joy, brother Gus, sons: Kenneth and Rodney; and grandson Kenneth. Visitation: Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, MN.
