Tanner Curtis Markgraf

Our beloved Tanner joined Jesus in heaven on August 27, 2018.  Tanner was born to Curt and Staci (Mickle) Markgraf on March 23, 2006.  He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids.  Tanner loved his older sister, Keirsten, with all his heart.  He was our animal lover.  He especially loved his pets, Herbie, Jax, and Ruger. Tanner attended Viking Elementary School in Pelican Rapids.  He was excited to start 7th grade at Pelican Rapids High School.  Tanner was a marvelous student, top of his class and a math master.   He played the clarinet, proud to have held first chair.  An avid chess player, Tanner was the champion of the 6th grade chess tournament. He was also captain of the school patrol attending the Legionville Safety Patrol Training Camp.  Tanner’s plan was to attend college to become a veterinarian. Tanner enjoyed his summers on the lake, whether on their own lake property or family’s.  He loved to fish, ski, tube, and just enjoy nature.  He loved his independence, riding bike, loved reading, pet sitting for neighbors and gaming online with cousin Hunter.  Our beloved Tanner was the kindest and most compassionate person, and always gave the very best hugs. He called his sister, Keirsten, frequently just to talk and plan their next adventure, and shared his love with his parents through hugs and saying “I love you” every single day. Tanner is survived by his parents, Curtis and Staci Markgraf; brother and sisters: Keirsten Markgraf (special friend Dalton Vickery), Zachary Markgraf, Brianna Markgraf, McKenna Markgraf, Madison Velez; nephews: Blake and Benjamin; grandparents: Len Markgraf, Roni Mickle, Gary (Elvern) Mickle, and Carol Salvey; uncles and aunts: Shawn Mickle daughter Emily Mickle; Steve (Amy) Mickle son Shane (Taylor) Mickle; Julie (Scott) Sachs, daughter Shauntae (Tim) Reese, children Callie and Kendall, daughter Sarah (Travis) Grahn, children Kaden and Nora; Kevin (Lori) Markgraf, daughter Jolene (Dan) Fromm, children Ruby and Boone, daughter Ashley Markgraf (Jeff Thomsen), children Ayva, Aiden, Emmy, and Isaac; Kim (Charles) Oien, sons Chase and Hunter, daughters Addisen and Medora; Mindy (Brad) Sachs, daughter Sydney (Lucas) Albright, son Billy (Jessica) Sachs, child Lydia; Joy (Brian) McDaniels; and his favorite neighbors Bob and Mary Bowers. He is preceded in death by grandmother, Connie Markgraf; great-grandparents: Cecil Markgraf, Marvin Markgraf, Shirley Potter, Robert Potter, Mayme Botten, Bernie Kurtzbein, Richard Botten, Ruth Mickle and Glenn Mickle.
