Rose Tingelstad, age 91, former longtime resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls, MN.
Visitation (following CDC guidelines) will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 2-5 PM at Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the graveside service at the cemetery on Friday.
Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, June 19, 2020 at Lakeview Cemetery in Pelican Rapids.
Rose Mathilda Washenberger was born June 18, 1928 in St. Paul, MN the daughter of Mike and Mathilda (Karlick) Washenberger. As a child, Rose moved to Mahnomen where her grandparents raised her. She attended school in Waubun, MN. In the early 1950’s, Rose worked as a mother’s helper, at St. Mary’s Hospital, and Lakes Laundry, both in Detroit Lakes, MN.
On June 21, 1957 Rose was united in marriage to Elmer Tingelstad at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. They made their home on a dairy and grain farm north of Pelican Rapids, where they raised their daughters and farmed. Rose worked for 24 ½ years at West Central Turkey’s, Inc., retiring in 1993. She moved into Pelican Rapids in August of 2003.
Rose loved spending time with her grandchildren as they grew up. She also enjoyed family outings, going shopping, growing flowers, dining out, listening to music, and watching her favorite tv shows.
Rose is survived by 2 daughters: Jill (Tim) Hanson of Pelican Rapids and Kitty (Mike) Berg of Barnesville; 9 grandchildren: Christina (Eric Schlichting) Meyer, Heather Langston, Derek Haugrud, Jordan (Katie) Berg and Cameron Berg, Sarah (Luke) Mertz, Anna (Joe) Martodam, and Luke (Michelle) Hanson, Glenn Thompson, 8 great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Adeline Rose, Leeland, Adey, Jasper, Stelly, Colten, Chloe, 3 sisters in law: Karen Washenberger of North Branch, MN, Ann Tingelstad of Washington, Rosemary Tingelstad, of Washington.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Elmer in 2008, her parents, and brother Fred Washenberger.
