Robert "Bob" Bergquist

Robert “Bob” Bergquist, age 83, died Friday, June 7, 2019 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.Robert Edward was born February 1, 1936 near Detroit Lakes, MN, to Edward and Hazel (Leegard) Bergquist.  He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School, MN.  Following his graduation, he worked at Coast to Coast Hardware in Detroit Lakes.  On September 27, 1958 he was united to Joan “Jill” Boobar at the First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.Bob worked as an insurance sales agent and later became a loan officer at the First National Bank in Detroit Lakes.  During his time in Detroit Lakes he was a member of the Jaycees and served as Admiral of the Water Carnival in Detroit Lakes.Bob and Jill moved to Pelican Rapids where Bob served as a loan officer at the J.P. Wallace State Bank.  Later Bob became the CEO and President of the Pelican Valley State Bank and worked there until his retirement. After his banking retirement, Bob and Jill created Dunvilla Villas Condominium Development on Lake Lizzie.Bob served as mayor of Pelican Rapids, city council member, school board member, and a Pelican Rapids Rotary member. He was instrumental in developing the Pelican Rapids public pool, Mill Pond Suspension Bridge and Mill Pond View Apartments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and boating. Bob is survived by his children: Robbie (Mike) Benedict, Sabin, MN, Lynn Kedrowski, Moorhead, MN, John (Laura) Bergquist, Glenview, IL and Mike (Lisa) Bergquist, Miami, FL; 12 grandchildren: Matt (Eva) Benedict, Sean Benedict, Kacy Benedict, Gabby (Ben) Asplin, Alex Kedrowski, Nick Kedrowski, Will Lyon, Addie Lyon, Graham Bergquist, Lauren Gispert, Ethan Bergquist, and Ezra Bergquist; 1 great-grandson, Louie Asplin; 2 sisters: Connie Cook and Karen Arm, and many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife Jill.
