Rebecca "Becky" Schierman

Rebecca “Becky” Ann Schierman, age 75, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Saturday, November 24, 2018 under the care of LB Hospice and HealthPartners Hospice in Bloomington, MN. Becky was born on November 4, 1943 in New Ulm, Minnesota and was the youngest child of Hildreth and Stan Jutz. She attended college in Moorhead, MN at Moorhead State University and graduated with her teaching credentials.  On July 26, 1969, she married Al Schierman at Holy Trinity Cathedral. They made their home in Moorhead and welcomed daughter Jenni in 1976, and son Scott in 1979.  Becky was an active member of her community and was involved in the local church, St Francis de Sales Catholic Church.  Becky taught for 32.5 years, primarily in the Moorhead Public School district and always enjoyed hearing from past students. After retiring from teaching she took what she referred to as her “fun job” at Country Greenery.  Becky enjoyed helping others pick out flowers and gifts for the holidays.  In 2004 Becky and Al moved full time to their lake home in Pelican Rapids. Becky was active in her community working at Pass it On, volunteering at the Food Shelf, and working part time at Karen’s Corner.  She enjoyed her ladies card club, golfing, and watercolor painting.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.  She held a special place in her heart for her three “grand-dogs” Delilah, Dixie, and Hess.  Becky was preceded in death by her parents Hildreth and Stan Jutz, and Raymond Hippert, her sister; Shelly Perkovich, her in-laws; Clara and Walter Schierman, and brother-in-law Wesley Schierman. Becky is survived by her husband Al, her children: Jenni, Scott (Amanda), her sisters: Sandy (Larry), Carol (Frank), sister-in-law Verna (Jerry), and brother-in-law Warren Schierman. A special thank you to the staff at the Cancer Care Center in Fergus Falls including Dr. John Tate, LB Hospice, HealthPartners Hospice, and Father Stan Wieser for their outstanding care during this journey. Visitation will be Friday, December 7, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. with memorial service at 6 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
