Ralph Hoadley, age 92, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Pelican Valley Senior Living, Pelican Rapids, MN. Ralph Homer was born July 12, 1927 in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Floyd and Myrtle (Randall) Hoadley. He was baptized and confirmed at Scambler Union Church. He attended country school in Scambler Township and graduated Pelican Rapids High School in 1946. For a number of years, he farmed with his dad, and they raised black angus cattle and horses. They were well-known for breaking horses. Then Ralph farmed on his own until 1984 when he retired. During his working years, Ralph owned several trucks for hauling turkeys. He also drove school bus for 20 years. After retirement, they went to Apache Junction in the winter months. On December 3, 1949, Ralph married Marion “Kit” Kittelson at her parents’ place in Detroit Lakes, MN. Ralph enjoyed playing baseball for the Bangor Badgers, hunting, fishing, visiting neighbors, and snowmobiling. He was a member of Scambler Union Church. Ralph served on the Park Region Board for several years and Scambler Cemetery Board for many years. He also was a caretaker for the Scambler Cemetery. He enjoyed spending mornings with the Pool Hall Gang trying to solve the world’s problems. Ralph is survived by his wife, Marion “Kit”; four children: Kathy (Lewis) Schmidt, Gary (Wendy) Hoadley, Roy (Sue) Hoadley, and Carol (Derek) Schmaltz; daughter-in-law Judi Hoadley; ten grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jason (Anissa), Jesse (Emily), Lori (Jason), Julie (Jeremy), Krista (Paul), Candace (Jordan), Josh (Kate), Jenny, and Andria (Erick); twenty-five great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 3 nieces: Sharon, Karla, and Linda and nephew Wayne. He is preceded in death by son Clyde, two sisters: Lorraine (Melvin) Peterson and infant sister Joyce. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. with Allen Westby, S.A.M. officiating.
