Muriel Rogelstad

Muriel Rogelstad, age 89, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Pelican Valley Health Center, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Muriel was born August 13, 1928 to Martin and Lydia (Amundson) Bjornstad. After graduating from Langdon High School in 1946, she attended Beauty College and Concordia College. On January 2, 1951, she married Alfred Rogelstad. They raised three sons, Wayne, Jon, and Timothy, and a daughter, Janet.  Over the years, she was a beautician, a school teacher, and a homemaker. Muriel truly had the gift of hospitality. She was famous for her tasty Scandinavian treats (rømmegrøt, lefse, and flat bread, to name a few)! She was very involved in the Pelican Rapids community, from participating in church activities, helping with blood drives and organizing delivery of Meals on Wheels for over 25 years.  She also loved staying active — whether it was playing bridge, walking with good friends, or bowling league, Muriel was always on the go. She was known for her kindness, faithfulness, and love for God.  She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Carol), Jon (Hye-Ok), and Timothy (Penny), and her daughter, Janet (Kirk) Lindberg, thirteen grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way, three sisters, Eileen Etterman, Laurie (Luther) Anderson, Judy (Jerry) Halvorsen and one brother Ardell Bjornstad, and numerous nieces & nephews. Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, her brothers, Omar and Donald, and granddaughter, Monica Troutner. Visitation: Sunday, July 29, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN. Service: 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Burial: Ringsaker Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.
