Muretta Scott, 73, of rural Erhard, MN died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at her home under the care of LB Hospice with her family by her side. Muretta Karen was born April 22, 1945 in Detroit Lakes, MN the daughter of Vernon and Maryann (Tolbert) Shores. She lived northwest of Pelican Rapids and her family raised Guernsey cattle. Growing up she had a Pinto horse named Major. On December 8, 1963 she was united in marriage to Paul Scott at the First Congregational Church in Pelican Rapids. Muretta worked as a nurse’s aide at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls and later worked as a home health aide for Otter Tail County. Then, when Muretta’s grandchildren were born she helped take care of them. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and was active in their ladies’ aid. Muretta was talented in drawing, coloring, and painting on canvas. Muretta spent many hours in her flower garden. She also took great joy in taking care of her grandchildren and watching them grow up. Muretta is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Paul Scott, Erhard; daughters: Paula Buchholz, Pelican Rapids and Denise (Rick) Wandersee, Erhard; grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Ryan) Nelson, Jennifer (Thomas) Taylor, Derek Wandersee and Weston Buchholz; great-grandchild Thomas Taylor IV; sisters: Lucie (Pop) McCommon, Colleen (James) Morton, Melody (William Osberg) Shores; brothers: Nathan Shores and Tim Shores; sister-in-law Carol Drechsel; close friends Larry and Dian Drechsel; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Joe and Catherine Scott, two infant sisters, brother-in-law Donald Drechsel. Memorials preferred to LB Hospice.
