Michael Inwards

Michael Inwards, 61, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.    Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Pelican Rapids, MN with Pastor Bob Satterlie officiating.  Burial will be 3:00 PM at Esther Lutheran Church near Parkers Prairie, MN.  Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.  Michael Keith Inwards was born on May 26, 1956 to Keith Thomas and Jeanette Muriel (Peterson) Inwards near Bertha, MN.  He grew up for the first seven years in Moorhead and spent the remainder of his school years in Detroit Lakes, MN.  He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School and from Moorhead State University with a degree in elementary education.  Mike was united in marriage to Phyllis Joan Miller on March 12, 1976 in Detroit Lakes, MN.  They made their home in Detroit Lakes where they raised three children, Isaac, Elisabeth, and Anna.  In 1999, they moved to Crystal Lake where he completed one of his proudest accomplishments which was transforming a small cabin into a beautiful home.  He had a passion for creating and playing music and enjoyed being a member of the Praise Team at Calvary Evangelical Free Church.  He loved the outdoors where he hunted, made maple syrup, and enjoyed family trips into the boundary waters.  His faith in Christ was the most important, the legacy he instilled in his family.  Mike is survived by his wife Phyllis, of Vergas, MN, three children:  Isaac (Shawna) Inwards of Stacy, MN, Elisabeth (Erik) Waage of Alexandria, MN, and Anna (Dan) Wilson of Detroit Lakes, MN, his “treasure chest” of eight grandchildren: Andrew and Mikayla Inwards, Henry, Calvin, and Lydia Waage, Caleb Inwards, and Tanner and Isabella Wilson, parents Keith and Jeanette Inwards of Detroit Lakes, MN, siblings:  Curtis Inwards of Detroit Lakes, MN, Bruce (Laura) Inwards, Kansas City, MO, Douglas (Colleen) Inwards of Roseville, MN, Robert (Karen) Inwards of Waltham, MN, Chris Inwards, Champlin, MN, Katherine Livingood, of Eden Prairie, MN, Matt Inwards, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Maria (Milt) Wilson of Detroit Lakes, MN, and several nieces and nephews.  In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated in Mike’s honor.  Michael's Folder
