Maxine Beverly Ballard

Maxine Ballard, age 85, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Maxine Beverly was born March 14, 1937, to Evan Brede and Christine Selma (Berg) Rossum on the family farm in Norwegian Grove Township, near Pelican Rapids. She was baptized and confirmed at South Immanuel Church near Rothsay, MN. She attended country school District 280, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1955. Maxine worked at the Uptown Café and B&L Café in Pelican Rapids. On May 24, 1957 Maxine was united in marriage to Ralph Ballard at South Immanuel Church. Maxine and Ralph owned and operated Ballard Sanitation for many years. Ralph died on July 7, 2006, Maxine continued to operate the business with her 2 sons. She also drove school bus for Christianson Bus Service and worked at the V.F.W. in Pelican Rapids for many years.

Maxine enjoyed bowling, ceramics, embroidery, needlepoint, collecting cookbooks and tried to golf. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, life time member of V.F.W. Auxiliary, active in church activities, Pelican Chamber of Commerce and Octoberfest. Maxine was a huge supporter of the Pelican Rapids High School athletics and in October will be inducted in the Hall of Fame as an avid fan for Pelican Rapids High School Sports. In honor of Maxine please wear orange and black to the visitation and the funeral service.

Maxine is survived by her sons: Everett (Deb) of Pelican Rapids, Kevin (Janna) of Pelican Rapids; 10 grandchildren: Terra (James) From, Crystal May (Ron Van Heuveln), Brady (Angie) Ballard, Gary (Heather) Berg, Alexis Ballard (Ron Wood), Christopher Ballard, Zachary (Lilly) Ballard, Emma Ballard, Jennessa Ballard, Noah Ballard; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty Boen, Ellen Haugrud; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Steve, two brothers: Cleo Rossum and Cyrus Rossum, sister Delores Gammelgaard.

Memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church Sign Fund.

Visitation: Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.

Interment: Ringsaker Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota
