Lyman Stanley Jones

Lyman Jones, age 87, a resident of MN Veterans Home, Fergus Falls, MN, formerly of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. Lyman Stanley was born February 9, 1934 in Aitkin, MN, to Spivey and Theresa (Davis) Jones. His family moved to California, where he attended a Catholic boys boarding school. In 1951, Lyman joined the Navy. After the Navy he took a job driving truck. On November 16, 1968, he united in marriage to Shirley Ophus. They had two children Lyle and Ann Marie. He made his life doing transport refrigeration, truck driver and mechanic. Later he saw the country with an RV. His hobbies and passion became fishing, hunting, gardening, telling people how to fix things, and sharing jokes with anyone who would listen. He is survived by his son Lyle (Julie) Jones, and grandchildren Craig and Kari all of Pelican Rapids, MN; daughter Ann Marie (Anthony) Basta of Henderson, NV; and cousin John (Donna) Davis of Cal-Nev-Ari, NV. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Shirley. Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time.
