Lyle Raymond Pederson

Lyle R Pederson, a beloved member of the Pelican Rapids community, peacefully passed away on November 2, 2023, at the age of 74. His departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. Lyle will be remembered for his remarkable character, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

Born on February 17, 1949, in Pelican Rapids, Lyle was the son of Sanford and Gladys (Rossum) Pederson. Growing up in his hometown, he attended Pelican Rapids High School, where he made enduring friendships and began cultivating the qualities for which he would be remembered. Lyle's commitment to education led him to graduate from Fergus Falls Community College with a degree in Agriculture.  Lyle also served in the National Guard.

In 1971, Lyle married his love, Judith Dennis, shortly after their graduation. They shared a life full of joy, laughter, and cherished memories until Judy's untimely passing in 2015. Together, they raised three children, Aaron, Ryan, and Michele, imparting in them the values of integrity, hard work, and compassion.

Lyle's professional journey saw him working as a dedicated USDA inspector in Wilmar and Cold Spring, MN. However, it was his role as the chief of live haul for West Central Turkey Plant that spanned many years and became an integral part of his life.

In 1996, Lyle embarked on a new venture, becoming the proud owner and operator of ServiceMaster in Pelican Rapids. His commitment to serving others shone through in this role, where he helped countless individuals and families navigate difficult times.

In 2006, Lyle and Judy relocated to St. Michael, MN, where he worked diligently in maintenance at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River. Following his wife's passing, Lyle returned to his hometown of Pelican Rapids, finding solace and comfort in familiar surroundings.

Lyle was a steadfast member of Trinity Lutheran Church and avidly involved in his community. He dedicated his time as a cub scout leader, fostering growth and nurturing future leaders. In his leisure, Lyle enjoyed various activities such as hunting, fishing, bowling, traveling, camping, and finding excitement in games of chance like gambling and bingo. His most treasured moments were spent with his beloved grandchildren, spoiling them with love and care, especially tending to Danica during her early years.

Left to honor his memory are his children, Aaron (Karen) Pederson, Ryan (Tara) Pederson, and Michele (Mike) Listrom; six adored grandchildren, Alaina Pederson, Alex Pederson, Danica Pederson, Tara Motz (Rick Hanson), Trent (Marion) Motz, and Trisha Nord (Dana Hare); great-grandchildren: Dane Hare, Evelynn Hare, Kallie Hanson, Lilyana Nord, Hailey Nord, and Ciaran Nickolauson; siblings Doreen (Steven) Larson, Kurt Pederson & (Mike Smith), and Wendell (Kim) Pederson; as well as brothers-in-law, Charles (Marsha) Dennis and Steven Dennis; a very special friend Sharon Swanson; alongside a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Gladys Pederson, wife Judith; as well as his dear sister, Sandra.

Loved and cherished by many, Lyle's legacy lives on through the fond memories he leaves behind. His remarkable spirit and dedication will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home. The visitation will also continue one hour prior to the funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids.

The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Allen Westby, S.A.M., officiating the ceremony. Following the service, Lyle will be laid to rest at the Ringsaker Cemetery in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, beside his beloved wife, Judy.
