Leona Viola (Stier) Jordahl, 84, of Pelican Rapids, MN went to her heavenly home with family by her side on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at LB Broen Home in Fergus Falls, MN. Leona was born June 5, 1937 to Otto and Viola (Ahrens) Stier in Belle Plaine, MN. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran in Belle Plaine, and confirmed in her faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. She graduated from Belle Plaine high school in 1955, and continued her education at Mankato State Teachers College, earning her BS degree in elementary education in 1958. Leona, known by many as “Patty”, met the love of her life, Roland, well known as “Jordy”, at MSTC, and the couple were married November 25, 1960 at St John’s in Belle Plaine. They taught in Rochester, Preston, and Harmony, MN for several years before moving to Arlington MN. There they were blessed with 2 children, Annette in 1964, and Jim in 1965. In 1968 they moved to Glencoe, MN where they resided for 24 years. Upon retirement they moved to Pelican Rapids, MN. At age 12 Leona began using her musical gifts as a church organist and shared her music with congregations throughout her life. She enjoyed planning worship services, as well as playing organ and piano for church, weddings, and funerals. She was most recently organist at Zion, Pelican Rapids. She and Roland also enjoyed sharing music together through the years as he sang solos and she accompanied him on the piano. For many years Leona and Roland had a photography studio in their Glencoe home. They were a team, photographing countless weddings and events together. Leona also managed the studio and enjoyed helping people plan weddings, and choose and display their portraits. Leona also loved to draw, paint, and create crafty gifts for others. The grandkids all loved doing crafts in Grandma’s art room. Leona was a wonderful cook and took great pride in preparing meals and treats for her family and guests. Leona also loved to travel and planned many wonderful trips throughout her life including a 2 month trip through Europe in 1962, many family camping trips to the most beautiful parts of the country, and retirements trips to Alaska, Florida and Texas. Leona’s greatest joys were her family, especially seeing her grandkids as they grew. Leona loved the Lord Jesus and served Him in all she did. Through this faith she was able to be an encourager for her family and so many others she met in life. In 2013 Leona suffered a stroke that paralyzed her left side. She spent the past 8 years in the Broen Home in Fergus Falls. Broen became the hub of the family gatherings so Grandma could participate, and we enjoyed many wonderful visits. She never gave up on going back home, and we rejoice with her that she is now in the best home, with her Lord. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Roland, children Annette (Gary) Wheeler, Fergus Falls, MN, and Jim (Michelle) Jordahl, Hutchinson MN; grandchildren Joshua Wheeler, Kari (Jonathan) Eckhardt, Perrin (Lindsay) Jordahl, Paxton, Gannon, Brockton and Rowan Jordahl; great grandchildren Kaynin and Kolsin Jordahl; step grandchildren Todd Wheeler, Erin (Doug) Hopper-Jones, John (Jonathan) Wheeler, and Mark Wheeler, step- great- grandchildren Emmaliese and Esher Jones; brother Loren Stier, brother-in-law Douglas(Betty) Jordahl, sister-in-law Joleen Huiras, and numerous nieces and nephews.
