Kermit Klovstad

August 12, 1929 — September 1, 2018

Kermit Klovstad, 89, a resident of Erhard, MN died on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at his residence. Kermit Norris was born on August 12, 1929 in Pelican Rapids to Carroll and Ruth (Bakken) Klovstad.  He spent his childhood years on the family farm in Maplewood and Norwegian Grove Township until joining the military in 1951. Kermit served as a Corporal for the 7th Division in the U.S. Army during the Korean War receiving 2 bronze star medals. In 1953, he transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves. In April, of 1953, Kermit united in marriage with Virginia Grobe.Together they lived in Norwegian Grove Township until Virginia’s passing on November 28, 1967. Together they welcomed 5 children.  Kermit continued to farm until 1969. After farming, he began to work at the West Central Turkey Plant in Pelican Rapids.   On July 2, 1971 Kermit married Caroline (Peasley) Wahl at North Immanuel Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids. Through this marriage, Kermit was gifted with four additional children. He and Caroline worked together at the West Central Turkey Plant until their retirement in 2005.   In their retirement years, they fostered two great-grandchildren. Kermit enjoyed woodworking, building crafts and lighted lawn ornaments.  He will be remembered for having a caring heart, helping others and being hard-working. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Caroline; children: Ronnie (Robin) Klovstad, Gary (Deb) Klovstad, Marleen Fox, Jeanette (Ted Bergeron) Klovstad, Jean (Bob) Flath, Delane Wahl, Barb (William) Kremple; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers: Wayne (Connie) Klovstad and Percy (Claudia) Klovstad; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Ruth (Bakken) Klovstad; wife Virginia Klovstad; sons: Duane Wahl and David Wahl; twin brother Kenneth Klovstad and brother Robert Klovstad; grandson Tyler Wahl; and son-in-law Tim Fox.     Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Central Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Clergy: Pastor Phillip Tobin Military Honors: Pelican Rapids V.F.W.
