June Olsen

June Olsen, age 92, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, MN. June Frances Gilason was born June 19th, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN.  She was raised in Minneapolis where she met and married her husband, Odin Olsen, in 1944.  They moved their family to Erhard in 1956, where they had a small farm.  Later in life, they enjoyed living in town, flea marketing, and some travel before Odin’s death in 1991. June loved her trips to the Shooting Star Casino, visiting with friends and working at the Pass It On Thrift Shop.   She is preceded in death by her mother Gertrude, her sister Norma Swanson, her husband Odin, and her son Kirk. She is survived by her children Greg (Arlene) Olsen, Joni (Jim) Weaver, and Kim (Wendell) Pederson. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.  June’s family would like to thank the staff at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls for their amazing care over the past two years, as well as the team from L.B. Hospice for their recent care and support.  No funeral is planned at this time. A graveside service will be held at Central Lutheran Cemetery at a later date for June and Kirk. Family request that memorials be directed to PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls. Please keep the Olsen family in your thoughts and prayers.
