Joyce Anne Sillerud

Joyce (Johnson) Sillerud, age 83, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Valley Care Center, Barnesville, Minnesota. Joyce Anne was born on September 18, 1935, to the daughter of Helmer and Hilda (Stubstad) Johnson in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Joyce was baptized and confirmed at North Immanuel Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids, MN. She was raised in rural Barnesville, MN. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1953. After graduating, Joyce went on to nursing school at St. Luke’s Hospital School in Fargo, ND graduating in 1957. She lived in Fargo, ND from 1954 - 1961 then moved to Pelican Rapids, MN. On August 25, l961, Joyce was united in marriage to Donald Sillerud at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Joyce worked at St. Luke’s Hospital from 1953-1961, Pelican Valley Health Center from 1961-1973, and Pelican Rapids Public School from 1973-1992 as a Registered Nurse. She retired from Pelican Rapids Public School in 1992. Don died on February 10, 2012. She was a lifelong member at North Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Retired School Teachers, and Pelican Red Hats. Joyce enjoyed singing and crafts. Joyce is survived by her children: Jon (Nora) Sillerud, Orono, MN and Julie (Keith) Lane, Aurora, CO; grandson: Brett Sillerud; sister Shirley (Duane) Svanes; brother Marlow Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald.   Visitation: Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2019, at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN.
