Jacob Donald Arntson, age 33, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Thursday, December 14, 2017 at his residence while working on a vehicle, an activity which Jake loved to do. On April 14 1984, Jacob "Jake" Donald Arntson was born to Randy and Vicky (Duenow) Arntson at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Little Jake earned the title of being a "little stinker" for the mischief he caused around the family farm with his big sister Carrie and younger brother Jordan. He could often be seen helping out with the cows and horses, and riding his horse Lightning. Throughout his life, he continued to lend a helping hand at the farm, and carried on the mischief with his beloved niece Grace. Jake was a lifelong resident of Pelican Rapids, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School is 2003. During his high school years, Jake spent a lot of time cruising around with his buddies, with the occasional "burn out" or "donuts" happening on the gravel roads. Jake was confirmed at Grove Lake Lutheran Church. His faith was an important part of his life, and he proudly continued this tradition with his children. In the summer of 2009, Jake decided to ask out the waitress who served him coffee every morning at the Crossroads Restaurant. That was the start of a beautiful love story, and Jake married Irina Greben on November 25, 2011 at Grove Lake Lutheran Church. With this union, Jake gained four daughters and worked hard to have a unique relationship with each one of them. The newlyweds welcomed baby Connor Jacob Arntson on January 14, 2012. On August 21, 2014, Jake adopted Irina's eldest daughter, Danielle, as his own. Jake was a father with a heart like no other, who provided a safe space and unconditional love for his children. He was proud to support all of his kids, attending Connor's wrestling matches and the girls' dance competitions and hockey tournaments. Jake instilled values of hard work in his children and was proud of their accomplishments in school and sports. Jake enjoyed his work at the Minnesota DOT Highway Department, a longtime goal of his, where he was currently employed. When not working or attending sporting events, Jake enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved his guns and taking Connor deer hunting in the fall. Jake's biggest passion was for cars, and he had a knack for restoring hot rods. He spent many hours fixing up his prized Model A, Ford Falcon, and attending car shows (his favorite being ‘Back to the 50s’). Jake was also the cook of the family, a master of the grill, tater tot hot dish, and venison sausage. He enjoyed traveling the country with his family, his favorite adventures being Duluth, the Salt Flats, and the yearly family trips to South Dakota. The memories Jake created in his life will be forever cherished. He was a generous and loving husband, father, son, brother, and a friend to many. Jacob will be missed dearly by the many whose lives he touched, but through them his memory lives on.
