Gladys Anna Berg

Gladys Berg, age 91, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Riverfront on Main, Pelican Rapids, MN.

Gladys Anna was born on her parents’ farm home in Compton Township, Otter Tail County, MN, on July 4, 1930.  She was the fourteenth and last child born to her parents, George and Anna (Christiansen)
Gedde.  She attended a one-room rural school near her home for 8 years.  Graduated from Wadena High School in 1948.  The next year she went to Staples Teachers training school and earned a teaching certificate.  She taught country school District 39 until it closed, and the students were bussed into town.

On June 14, 1951, Gladys married Lawrence Berg.  The couple made their home on the Berg family farm in Scambler Township and raised a family of four children.  During her lifetime she was employed by West Central Turkeys and Pelican Valley Health Center.  Gladys purchased a house in Pelican Rapids where she lived until the fall of 2019.

Memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Grove Lake Cemetery fund.

Gladys is survived by her children: Michael (Kitty), Barnesville, MN, LaVonne (David) Black, New Albany, PA, Steven (Karol), Pelican Rapids, MN, and Vernon (Joan), Moorhead, MN; ten grandchildren: Jordan Berg, Cameron Berg, Dana Black, Monica Black, DeAnn LaCrosse, Ryan Berg, Taylor Berg, Abigail Berg, Maris Berg, and Audrey Berg; seven great-grandchildren: Dominic LaCrosse, Tyler LaCrosse, Isaac LaCrosse, LeRoy LaCrosse, Noah LaCrosse, Adeline Rose Berg, and Jett Black; a great-great-granddaughter coming in February; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents George and Anna Gedde, her husband Lawrence, and her siblings: Levi, George, Raymond, Harold, Alfred, Elsworth, Melvin, Clifford, Agnes, Ester, Jessie, Evelyne, Walter.   

Visitation: Monday, November 29, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, Rural Pelican Rapids, MN.
