It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing George "Stan" Ruud, a remarkable soul whose presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. George's journey began on November 3rd, 1932, in the quaint town of Pelican Rapids, MN, where he was born the son of George and Pearl (Moen) Ruud. Stan graduated from Pelican Rapids High School, and then worked at the Texaco Station in Fergus Falls.
Furthermore, his sense of duty and patriotism saw him bravely serving in the United States Military during the Korean War, a selfless act that embodies his unwavering courage.
On June 14, 1957, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Murice Odden at the Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood, MN. A man of many talents and unwavering dedication, Stan embarked on a fulfilling career path that saw him flourish in various roles. His professional odyssey led him to Boeing in Seattle where he truly shone, serving as a warehouse manager for an impressive 37 years. His commitment and work ethic left an indelible impact on all those around him. Murice passed away on July 30, 2006.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, a testament to his lifelong pursuit of excellence.
Stan was a dedicated member of the Renton V.F.W. In his moments of respite, Stan found solace in a myriad of hobbies and interests that brought joy to his life. Whether casting a line into tranquil waters while fishing, feeling the adrenaline rush of horse racing, trying his luck at casinos, or engaging in spirited rounds of bingo—Stan's passions illuminated the path he walked.
As we fondly remember Stan's vibrant spirit, we cherish the memories created and shared with those closest to him. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be treasured by his surviving family: son Alan (Laili) Sams; grandchildren: Christine and Stephanie; and brother Paul (Patty). Though he has departed from our physical realm, his memory will live on in our hearts. Stan is preceded by his sister Arlene (Norman) Lundhagen and stepson Gene.
A private graveside service will be held at Pelican Valley Cemetery where George will be laid to rest by his beloved Murice.
