Fran (Fannie) Anderson

Fran (Fannie) VanderPlaats Anderson, 86, a resident of Prairie Lake, Pelican Rapids passed away at her home on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Fran was born June 30, 1936, daughter of George and Fannie VanderPlaats in Bejou, Minnesota. She attended school in Bejou and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1954. She began working for L.H.H.S. (now Banner Health System) in 1955 and retired from there in 2000. Fran married Bertman Anderson at Dilworth Lutheran on November 20, 1965. They made their home in Moorhead until 1997 at which time they moved to their lake home at Prairie Lake near Pelican Rapids.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and life member of the V.F.W. She also did volunteer work at the Pass It On Thrift Store in Pelican Rapids. Fran was a member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church.

Fran loved living the lake life, taking care of her flower gardens. She was a great Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. She enjoyed her great friends and neighbors who were her family.

Fran is survived by her one son David, Fargo; daughter Melissa (Mike) Vetter of Buchanan, ND; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 step children: Diane Anderson, Brian (Brenda) Anderson, Peggy Baumgart, Vicki (Norm) Hanson, and Debbie (Tom) Paschke; 2 sisters: Cathy (Harlow) Gunderson and Aggie McKiney; and her loving lake family: Joe & DeAnne Mohr with their sons: Rickie and Jordan, Dennis & Cindy Pullen, Dave & Arnel Becker, Steve & Brenda Pickle, Mark & Breck Von Bank, Penny Schwartz, Tony & April Rabideaux, and Terry & Jeanette Freehauf.

Honoring her wishes there was a private family burial.
