Florence Elnora West was born June 8, 1920 in Henry SD. The first child of William Sylvester West and Martha Elnora West (Tubbs). Legend has it that her 3 year old aunt entered the room and upon seeing Florence proclaimed, “She is my little Dolly”. She remained Dolly or Doll in the family for the rest of her life. Dolly passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at age 100 at the Pelican Valley Care Center in Pelican Rapids, MN. She is now reunited with friends and family and in the hands of God. Dolly lived in Henry, SD, and later Watertown, SD, where she attended school and was joined by her 4 younger siblings. She was united in marriage to Hadwin (Bub)Warren on October 4, 1937. They moved around the area quite a bit due to Bub’s job in construction, including the Alaskan Highway, and his military service, living mainly in the Ortonville and Duluth areas in Minnesota before settling down in Rice, MN in 1960, where Dolly worked for Fingerhut before retiring in 1982. Dolly enjoyed journaling and gardening, including for some reason Kohlrabi. She and Bub rode their Snow Jets around the Rice area for many years. She enjoyed trips to see relatives with her sisters. Dolly was preceded in death by parents William West, Martha West and Step Mother Olive West; husband Bub; sister Virginia/Jean (Ronnie) Michaelson; brother William (Jacqueline) West; sister Martha/Peggy (Carlton/Slim) Nelson; brother Darrell (Bea) West. She is survived by her nephew Richard (Mary) Warren who considers her his second mom, and many other nieces, nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews. Blessed be the memory of Dolly Warren.
