Florence Winnifred Hansen

Florence (Haugrud) Hansen, age 104, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Friday, December 4, 2020 at Pelican Valley Senior Living. Florence Winnifred Haugrud Hansen was born to Olof and C. Emelia Haugrud on April 10, 1916 in Pelican Rapids, MN. She was the 7th of 9 children. She was baptized and confirmed at Ringsaker (now Faith) Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1934; then attended Minneapolis Business College. After that graduation she was employed by the Ottertail County Agriculture Extension Office in Fergus Falls, MN. On June 15, 1940 she was united in marriage to Clarence W. Hansen at Ringsaker Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN. In 1942 the couple moved to Hawthorne, CA where Clarence worked at a Defense Plant until drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific. After his discharge Florence and Clarence settled in Fargo, ND where they lived until 1975 when they moved to Mesa, AZ. It was in Fargo that they raised their 3 children, Virginia, David and Cynthia. Clarence died in 1979 in Mesa, AZ. Florence continued living there until 1994 when she moved to Pelican Rapids and moved into the Mill Pond View Apartments to be near her family. Eventually she moved to the Riverfront on Main and then the Pelican Valley Senior Living, where she died. Florence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids at the time of her death. During her lifetime she was an active member of her church wherever she lived, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of various committees. She also was a Past Matron and 50 yr. member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting afghans for all her children and grandchildren, doing other stitchery, ceramics and playing card games. Florence is survived by 2 daughters: Virginia Morgan, Pelican Rapids, MN and Cynthia (Larry) Mollins, Dent, MN; five grandchildren: Michael Morgan, Elizabeth (Grant) Julian, Stephen (Laura) Morgan, Anne (Mike) Keller, David Brown; eight great-grandchildren: Ashley Morgan, Erika Morgan, Natalie Julian, Nicholas Julian, Noah Morgan, Cecilia Morgan, Maryn Keller, Mallory Keller; one great-great-grandchild Jaxyn Morgan McKay. She was preceded in death by husband Clarence, son David, grandson Greg Morgan and son-in-law John Morgan. Blessed be the memory of Florence Haugrud Hansen.
