Faith Westby

Faith Westby, age 16, of Pelican Rapids, MN, earned her angel wings and was welcomed into Jesus’ loving arms on Saturday, March 16th, 2019 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Faith Eileen was born on June 19th, 2002 in Fargo, North Dakota to her beloved parents, Peter and Jeannie Westby and sister, Haley. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, and she was confirmed at Central Lutheran Church, both in Pelican Rapids, MN. She was a sophomore at Pelican Rapids High School. Some of Faith’s favorite things in life were going to school, campouts out at Tollefson Bay where she would play in the sand, riding rides and showing pigs at the county fair.  She loved participating in Special Olympics basketball and track.  Faith always had the perfect fast shoes for both. She loved holding hands and Friday night sleepovers at Grandmas. Faith loved to take naps with her dogs, Bentley and Paisley. She could watch them chase after balls and one another for hours.  Faith loved spending time with family and friends.  She admired and looked up to her sister, Haley. Faith was fortunate enough to be able to form such a special bond with her mom by simply being together. While Faith was in Rochester, she loved staying at the Ronald McDonald House; she would get excited for visits from therapy dogs and craft time.  Some of her favorite times during her stays at the hospital included music therapy, Bingo, seeing her nurses and doctors that took the utmost care for her with love and compassion. She loved PlayDoh, French fries, and watching YouTube. Faith was a professional FaceTimer and enjoyed baking, watching basketball with her dad, dressing up and looking pretty. She loved to go on Gator rides, especially when people came out to visit. She loved to eat potato balls when making lefse, popcorn, fruit snacks and anything else sweet. Faith has started a ministry without even knowing; she brought communities together. A special thank you to the countless prayer warriors who continually prayed and supported Faith on her journey, and to the Class of 2021; We want to thank you for the compassion, love, and support. All of the years that you all have gone the extra mile to make sure that she felt welcome and protected will not be forgotten. Faith is survived by her parents, Peter and Jeannie, and her sister Haley; Grandparents: Audrey Westby, Eileen (Larry) Backstrom, Allen (Estella) Miller. Uncles and Aunts: Mike (Pam) Westby, Bob (Dawn) Westby, Allen (Linda) Westby, Pat (Cathy) Westby, Chris (Angie) Westby, Julie (JR) Mauch, and many cousins who she dearly adored and loved. Faith is preceded in death by Grandpa Ordean and Uncle Steve Westby.
