Edward (Ed) Dalos Schenatzki was born on February 20, 1931, to Marvin and Orvilla (Prather) in Curlew, IA. He graduated from high school in Truesdale. He met Marjorie Freeman at her place of employment at the Dutch Maid Ice Cream Parlor in Fargo, ND, and they married on July 12, 1949. Ed enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War as an Airmen Second Class. After his military duty, Ed attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. Then he was employed with North Western Bell Telephone until 1983 when he retired and took up woodworking. Ed and Marge resided in Fargo, ND, for nearly 30 years and raised eight children. They moved to Prairie Lake, near Pelican Rapids, in 1978. In 2008, they moved into Pelican Rapids and lived there until his death. Ed loved wood carving, being outdoors, fishing, bowling and working in his garden. He enjoyed going to the Pelican Pool Hall and later the Senior Citizen Center. Ed was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ Church in Pelican Rapids and the Pelican Rapids Lions. After Marge’s death, you could often find him scootering around downtown in his electric scooter. Ed Schenatzki, 87, of Pelican Rapids died, Tuesday Sept. 11, 2018, at his home in Pelican Rapids. He is survived by five children, Eileen (Steven) Harvala of St Loius Park, MN, Connie Schenatzki of Fargo, ND, James (Renae) Schenatzki of Mandan, ND, Sandra (Paul) Hermann of Fergus Falls, MN, and Lois (Larry) Nelson of Fergus Falls, MN. Nine grandchildren: Elizabeth Schenatzki, Amanda (Matthew) Seifert, James (Chelsey) Harvala, William (Jesse) Hilfer, Leigh Schenatzki, John Hermann, Timothy Hermann, Rachel Hermann, and Kimberly Nelson, 13 great-grandchildren and one sister, Verlie Amis, of Greenville, IA. He as preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Orvilla, his wife, Marjorie, two sons, Michael and Steven, one daughter, Anne Schenatzki, one grandson Michael Schenatzki, one brother, Rodney and four sisters, Clara, Illa Mae and Cleota Schenatzki, and Irene Mallot.
