Donna Haugrud, 82, of Pelican Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids, MN. Donna Kay Larson was born on June 8, 1939 to Clayton and Arlette (Kittleson) Larson in Pelican Rapids, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. She attended school in Pelican Rapids. She enjoyed being a cheerleader throughout her years at school and was crowned Homecoming Queen. She graduated in 1957. She then went onto to college at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and obtained a degree in Laboratory Research. She finished school and moved to Pelican Rapids. On October 4, 1958, she was united in marriage to Wayne Haugrud in Trinity Lutheran Church. They started out their married life in Fergus Falls for a couple of years. Donna worked as a lab technician at Lake Region Hospital for a few years. They moved to Pelican Rapids in 1960, where they have lived ever since. Donna was a stay at home mom when the children were young. As they grew, she started working as the office manager at the telephone office in Pelican Rapids, where she stayed until her retirement. Donna was an avid reader. She was a wonderful cook and a talented seamstress. Throughout her life the family enjoyed sports, golfing, camping, and fishing to name a few. She was active at Trinity Lutheran Church including circle and teaching Sunday School. She served in the Women’s Civic Group back in the day. Being a mom, grandma, and great grandma was her first priority, and she loved being all of those roles. Donna is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wayne, three children: John (Lisa) Haugrud, of Lake Nebagamon, WI, Natalie (Darvin) Nehk, of Pelican Rapids, Susan (Troy) Zeller, of Pelican Rapids, six grandchildren, nine and ½ great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings David “Buzz” Larson, and Diane Berg. Private Family Service will be held. Please keep the Haugrud family in your thoughts and prayers.
