Private Family Graveside Service were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Cemetery Columbarium at Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Delores Fae Carpenter née Starr, age 90, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Monday, January 13, 2020 at Sanford Broadway Medical Center surrounded by family. Delores was born September 14, 1929 in Sutton, North Dakota, to Albert “Bert” and Ida (Jackson) Starr. In 1947 she graduated from Sutton High School in Sutton, ND. Following her graduation she attended college in Valley City, ND and earned her two year teaching degree. She later attended Moorhead State University for her four year teaching degree. On June 17, 1949 Delores married Roger Carpenter at Mabel Lutheran Church in Sutton, North Dakota. She taught school in Hunter, ND and retired as an elementary school principal. Delores and Roger retired to their home on Fish Lake in Pelican Rapids where they remained very active both at Zion Lutheran Church and in the community. Delores enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and both she and Roger volunteered at English as a Second Language in Pelican Rapids for many years. She was well loved by all those fortunate enough to work with her and interact with her. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and having her family home. Delores is survived by daughter, Candy (Jon) Gill, Toronto, Ontario; sons: Kevin (Julie) Carpenter, St. Cloud, MN, and Kerry Carpenter, Bismarck, ND; 11 grandchildren: Caida Gill, Clinton Carpenter, Gareth (Heather) Gill, Anysia Carpenter, Kirsten Beth Nova Starr, Ian (Courtney) Carpenter, Myrna (Eric) Carr, Ria (Ryan) Bawek, Raissa Carpenter, George (Allison Duflo) Carpenter and Seth Carpenter; 14 great-grandchildren; and beloved dog, Bandit. She is preceded in death by husband Roger, in 2017, son Carter, in 2006, and sister, Dorothy, in 2010, and by parents, Bert and Ida Starr.
