Darlene Nelson

Darlene Nelson, 88, of Pelican Rapids, died peacefully Monday, April 4, 2022. She was at home surrounded by her loving family.

Darlene was born February 5th, 1934, to Ruth and William Klimek. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1952 and worked at the Credit Bureau in both Fergus Falls and Minneapolis. She was also an office employee at the Creamery in Pelican Rapids.

In 1957 Darlene married Jack Nelson and they bought their “house on the hill” on main street where they raised their 3 daughters: Kay (Jim) Perrin, Brenda (Robb) Miller and LuAnn (Brent) Langley.

Darlene’s true passion was taking care of children and she welcomed them with loving arms at her door. Countless young nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends were the recipients of the same love her children and grandchildren embraced every day. She was blessed with a nurturing gift of generosity. Darlene had a deep faith in God, love of Jesus and lived a dedicated life of prayer.

In addition to her three daughters, Darlene is survived by her close sister Doreen Carrison.

Seven Grandchildren: Justin (Amy) Perrin, Jedd (Kari) Miller, Elly (Steve) Dracy, Mandy (Spencer) Paulson, Jenna (Micah) Kvidt, Madison and Makenzie Langley.

Thirteen Great-Grandchildren: Callen and Kylee Perrin, Bella Miller, Brody, Brooklyn and Olivia Motz, Harper and Hunter Dracy, Ryley, Chloe, Sophia, Jack and Scout Paulson.

Darlene was a special mother, wife, sister and grandma; she will be greatly missed.

Her family is honoring her wishes to have a celebration of life in the summer.
