Carol Flem, 77, of rural Pelican Rapids, died under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley on Friday, December 31, 2021, in her home with her loving husband by her side. June Carol Sorenson was born March 12, 1944, in Champaign, Illinois, to Charles and Julie (Norman) Sorenson. Her father was an Air Force Master Sergeant, so Carol lived in numerous places growing up, including Texas, Okinawa, and Grand Forks. Carol was a hard worker, supporting herself and her son working at Bethany Homes, a liquor store, and Jupe’s Restaurant. On June 18, 1981, she was united in marriage to Cyril Flem at Cormorant Lutheran Church. They owned and operated Rolling Hills Golf Course in rural Pelican Rapids until they retired in 2016. Carol had many responsibilities at the course, but that didn’t detract from her love of the game, and she enjoyed golfing a few times a week. In her younger years, Carol loved to dance. She was quite good, too, as she and Cyril won a jitterbug dance contest. She also enjoyed reading and spending time socializing with her many friends. Anyone who knew Carol also knew how much she loved her dogs, and her dog Divot was with her through her last days. Carol is survived by her husband, Cyril; a son, Richard Ludemann; a brother, Charles “Dusty” Sorenson; stepdaughter Kristi (Steve) John; three step grandchildren: Tanner (Courtney), Connor (Kaitlyn), and Abigail John; and a step great grandson, Decker John. She is preceded in death by her parents. Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids with Pastor Wade Dutton officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the spring at the Cormorant Lutheran Cemetery Please keep Carol's family in your thoughts and prayers.
