Carmen Rick, 59, of rural Pelican Rapids, MN, died peacefully at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at St. Mary’s of the Lakes Catholic Church in rural Detroit Lakes, MN with Father Bob LaPlante presiding. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary’s of the Lake Cemetery.
Carmen M’liss Rick was born on September 20, 1961 to Paul and Nona (Boesen) Rick in Marshall, MN. They lived her toddler years in Ivanhoe, MN and then moved to Hawley, MN for about a year. In the second grade she moved with her family to Pelican Rapids, MN where she finished her education. In her adolescent years, Carmen was active in 4-H and learned how to play the guitar.
Carmen was married to Bucky Arntson for a short time and to this union one daughter Sommer was born. For over 30 years, Craig Severson and Carmen shared an unbreakable love, together. Carmen worked as a CNA for almost 20 years at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids. Following the closing of the nursing home, Carmen continued working as a CNA at the Sunnyside Nursing Home in rural Lake Park, MN. Carmen battled cancer, and as the cancer became more painful, she was unable to continue working.
Carmen’s favorite time was her solitude and peacefulness of living in the country with the love of her life Craig Severson. Reading and crossword puzzles were a favorite thing for her, along with drives through the lakes and countryside. Carmen also enjoyed watching the animals meander their way through the yard and she loved her dogs and cats.
She is survived by the love of her life Craig Severson, Pelican Rapids, MN, one daughter Sommer (Robert) Dow, of New York Mills, MN, mother Nona Rick, of Pelican Rapids, MN, sister Shannon (Everett P.) Erickson, of Pelican Rapids, MN, four grandchildren: Trisha (Christopher) Kregar, Izaiah (Talia) Moberg, Megan Dow, and Grace Moberg, and five great grandchildren.
Carmen was preceded in death by her dad Paul in 2018.
