Arlene Mae Hanson

Arlene Hanson, 70, a resident of Erhard, MN died peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND with her loving family by her side.

Arlene Mae was born August 31, 1951, in Moorhead, MN the daughter of Alvin and Grace (Kuik) Johnson. She attended district #1407 country school near Elizabeth, MN and later graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1969. She was confirmed and a member at Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, Minnesota. Arlene worked in housekeeping for several years at the Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids. Arlene also raised her 3 children. Then she attended and graduated from Moorhead Technical College with an accounting degree in 1990.

In May of 1988 she met the love of her life, Michael Hanson. They later married on February 26, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada. For about 14 years she worked for Allied Insurance Company in accounting while living in the Halstad and Ada area. She also worked for the Bridges Medical Center in Ada. In June of 2008 she moved to Erhard to take care of her father. While taking care of her father, she also worked in the kitchen at Pelican Valley Health Center. Arlene resided in Erhard until November 2021, when she moved to Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.

She loved to play parcheesi with her family and was always #1. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, reading books, and listening to music. Most of all Arlene enjoyed taking care of others and putting a smile on their face. Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Arlene is survived by her husband Michael Hanson of Erhard, MN; children: Jeffrey (Patty) Ross, Pelican Rapids, MN, Cherie (Jereld) Lynnes, Pelican Rapids, MN, Jason (Estrella) Ross, Fergus Falls, MN; step children: Brock (Cheryl) Hanson, Fargo, ND and Chasity (Bobby) Brandt, Ada, MN; grandchildren: Chessica, Erik, Jason Jr., Austin, Allyssa, Rachel, Brittney, Kaylie, Brody, Sheariah, Akyrah, and Jasper; step grandchildren: Sage, Tiffiny, Giorgia, Miya, Bree, and Brooklyn; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings: Earl Johnson, Mary Ann (Gary) Halverson, Jerry (Mary) Johnson, Alice Kast, David (Cindy) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Dylan Ross and brother Curtis Johnson.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, MN. 

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, Minnesota with Pastor Kate Bruns officiating.

Spring Interment: Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, Elizabeth, Minnesota
