Anna Mae (Paulson) Ruud, age 90, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Monday, January 14, 2019 at Riverfront Manor, Pelican Rapids, MN. Anna Mae was born August 31, 1928 in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Chester and Agnes (Lerwick) Paulson. She was baptized and confirmed at Pelican Valley Lutheran Church. She attended school in Pelican Rapids, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1946. Following her graduation, she attended and graduated Moorhead State Teachers College with a teaching degree. On June 17, 1956 Anna Mae married James Ruud at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN. Anna Mae worked as a teacher in Twin Valley, MN for two years and five years in Fergus Falls, MN. She was a substitute teacher for 35 years in Pelican Rapids, MN. Anna Mae was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she participated in church council, choir, Sunday school teacher, and church circle. She was also a 4-H leader and a member of the Homemakers. Anna Mae enjoyed flower gardening, knitting, quilting and was known to be an exceptional singer. Anna Mae is survived by her husband James Ruud; two children: Tim (Sharon) Ruud, Alexandria, MN; Naomi (Brian) Barber, Granite Falls, MN; grandchildren: Amy (Josh) Klimek, Kristina Ruud, Daniel Barber, Jonathan Barber, David Barber; great-granddaughters: Makayla, Natalie, and Kassidy Klimek; brother Gerald (Marie) Paulson, Fergus Falls, MN; sister-in-law Amy Paulson, Valley City, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Chester and Agnes Paulson; her grandson Karl Ruud; her in-laws Henry and Clara Ruud; brothers: Chester (Janette) Paulson and Allen Paulson; sisters-in-law: Nina Mogus, Clarice Wahlstrom, Olive Johnson, Ruby Olson and spouses. Memorials preferred to Pelican Valley Cemetery Association and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.
