Ann Marie Shulstad

Ann Marie (Nelson) Shulstad, 89, of Pelican Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Pelican Valley Senior Living, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Ann Marie was born October 19, 1930, in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Carl R and Cora (Skunberg) Nelson of Rollag, MN. Ann Marie was baptized and confirmed at Rollag Lutheran Church. She attended rural district school near Rollag through the eighth grade, graduating from Barnesville High School in 1949. Following graduation, Ann Marie worked for First National Bank of Barnesville. On October 21, 1951, Ann Marie was united in marriage with Thomas E Shulstad at Rollag Lutheran Church. Together they were blessed with seven children. They farmed near Barnesville and Pelican Rapids. She devoted her life to raising and caring for her family. She also worked various jobs at Ben Franklin, Coast to Coast Hardware and Larry’s Super Market. After retiring, they moved from their farm to Prairie Lake and in 2005, they moved to Pelican Rapids, MN. Ann Marie enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing and quilting, flower gardening, singing, playing piano and square dancing. She also loved fishing and deer hunting. After retirement, she and her husband, Thomas, enjoyed traveling. She was a member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids and participated in Circle and Ladies Aid. Ann Marie is survived by her husband Thomas and their children, Thomas (Jane) Shulstad, Karl (Patricia) Shulstad, Sheila (Russell) Emerson, Philip (Robbie) Shulstad, Jacquelyn (Mark) Scott, David (Christie) Shulstad and daughter-in-law, Susan Shulstad; 18 grandchildren , Amy (Alan) Hodenfield, Nathan (Ali) Shulstad, Eric Shulstad, Chris (Valerie) Shulstad, Matt (Julianna) Shulstad, Josh (Cara) Shulstad, Michael (April) Scott, Andrew (Alexis) Scott, Alyssa Scott, Joe (Jess) Shulstad, Katie (Tyrell) Nordick, Amanda (Kevin) Backstrom, Adam (Kathryn) Shulstad, Tyler (Devin) Scott, Falon (Alex) Whittier, Peter (Abby) Scott, Nichole (Nolan) Jeral, Bailey Shulstad (Spencer Christianson-fiancé) and 27 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Daniel Paul Shulstad, daughter-in-law Debbie Shulstad, and great grandchildren Colton Shulstad, Maxwell Scott and Eddie Whittier. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 20, 2020, at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, Near Pelican Rapids, MN with Pastor Ethan Fearing officiating.
