REMBEMBERING THE LIFE OF...John Charles Kollar was born September 28, 1920, in rural Jackson, MN, the son of Adolph J. and Emelia L. (Savel) Kollar. He was baptized at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson. John helped on the family?s 670-acre grain and livestock farm in the rural Wolverton, MN, area from 1937 to 1942. From September 11, 1942 to November 22, 1945 John served in the United States Army during World War II. He served as a member of a crew, in the construction of road and bridges with a rifle company in Italy. He was a Prisoner of War for nine months in Central Europe. On December 21, 1957 John was united in marriage to Louisa Mabel Leabo. John was a lineman with Otter Tail Power in Fergus Falls for 33 years, retiring in 1982. Louisa died in 1979.John enjoyed deer hunting, and playing horseshoe and pool. He also enjoyed helping on the farm.John was a member of V.F.W. Post #5252 in Pelican Rapids, and the Red River Chapter of Ex-POWs.John, age 86, a resident of rural Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Monday, October 9, 2006, at his home.John is survived by his 2 sons: David (Deanna) Kollar of Fergus Falls, MN, and Roger Kollar of Pelican Rapids; 2 grandchildren: Stephanie and Darcy; 2 step-grandchildren: Erin (Matt) Larson and their children: Paige, Taylor, Will and Aiden, and Tracy Holdeman and her children: Taeren and Aikhem Holdeman; brother: Ernest (Lottie) Kollar of Fergus Falls, MN; 4 sisters: Mary Dykes of Fergus Falls, Margaret Krebs of Wellborn, FL, Marcella Hennings of Fargo, ND, and Marlys (Kenneth) Klovstad of Fergus Falls; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Louisa; 4 brothers: Andrew, Herman, Edward and Joseph; stepdaughter: Elnora Carlson; and 4 stepsons: Glenn, Richard, Vernon and Clifford Leabo.Blessed Be The Memory Of John Kollar
