REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF...Roger Lyle Hildebrand was born October 15, 1940, in Montevideo, MN, to Floyd and Phyllis (Petterson) Hildebrand. He was a 1958 graduate of Montevideo High School and attended the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and was the fraternity's pitcher for the 1960 all university fast pitch softball championship team. He was a Golden Gloves Boxer and fought in the finals of the light-heavy weight championship in Rochester, MN.Roger married Rachel Gutzmann on December 7, 1968, in Winsted, MN. Roger and Rachel lived in St. Paul until 1972 when they moved to Pelican Rapids. From 1979 to 1992 they owned and operated Hildebrand's Midway of Fun Shows.Roger was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Midwest Showmen's Association, Tampa Showmen's Association, and the Red River Showmen's Association. He was the first person to serve 2 full terms as President of the Midwest Showmen's Association serving in 1983 and 1987. He was named the most valuable member of the Midwest Showmen's Association in 1980, and in 1983 was named the Showman of the Year. Roger was a life member of the Midwest Showmen's Board of Directors. He was a life member of Otter Tail Masonic Lodge #284 in Pelican Rapids, serving as Master in 1983 and 1984. He was a recipient of the Gold Watch award as Master of the Lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of North Dakota, and a past member of El Zagal Shrine in Fargo, ND.Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman. He collected antiques for many years, most recently collecting Red Wing Stoneware.Roger, age 66, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at his home in Pelican Rapids.Roger is survived by his wife, Rachel of Pelican Rapids; twin daughters: Michelle (Bradley) Soderberg and Melissa (Todd) Klohn, both of Shakopee, MN; 5 grandchildren: Lindsey and Bennett Soderberg, and Andrew, Katelin and Preston Klohn; sister, Constance Berman of Wayzata, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Michael.Blessed Be The Memory Of Roger HildebrandMemorial preferred to Mayo Clinic Department of Development for Cancer Reasearh
