REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF...Carl Resset was born January 20, 1907, in Rothsay, Minnesota, the son of Ole and Ronnog (Slaan) Resset. He was baptized at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. Carl attended District #73 country school in Trondhjem Township and then District #48 country school in Norwegian Grove Township, both near Pelican Rapids. He was confirmed at North Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Pelican Rapids. On March 3, 1964 Carl was united in marriage to Nora Elvine (Hanson) Ronningen in Norwegian Grove Township where Carl farmed most of his life, retiring in 1972. In 1973 Carl and Nora moved into Pelican Rapids. Nora died on February 22, 1990. In August of 1998 Carl entered the Good Samaritan Center.Carl enjoyed fishing, playing whist, and in the wintertime, he was busy with his woodworking hobby. He also enjoyed playing the violin and traveling. Carl and his brother, Ted, visited Norway and the communities of Otta and Sjoa, the area from which their parents had come. The next trip to Norway was when Carl and Nora went to visit his relatives. Later, their travels included Greece and the Holy Land, and throughout the United States.Carl was an active member of the Senior Citizen Center in Pelican Rapids, and a charter member of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Association. He served many years on the Norwegian Grove Township Board. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.Carl, age 100, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids.Carl is survived by a sister, Olga Kjell of Mankato, MN; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nora; 4 brothers: Ted, Ingvald, Anton, and Gilman; and 2 sisters: Mary Osten and Ann Crow Solum.
