REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF...Lena Ovidia Rud was born December 2, 1911, in Lida Township, near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Louis and Laura (Peterson) Rud. She was baptized on February 18, 1912, and confirmed by Rev. Meland on May 3, 1925, at Maplewood Lutheran Church, rural Erhard. She attended country school in Maplewood Township. On January 14, 1930 Lena was united in marriage to Herb Allen in Fergus Falls, MN. During World War II Herb and Lena lived in Kansas City, Missouri. After World War II they moved back to Star Lake, near Dent, MN, where they farmed for a couple of years. Herb and Lena built a home on Lake Lida. Lena worked at Pelican Valley Hospital as a nurses aide for numerous years, and also worked at West Central Turkeys, Inc. for several years. Herb died on March 20, 2000. Lena entered the Pelican Valley Nursing Home on March 1, 2002.Lena enjoyed quilting and embroidery, also baking and gardening. Lena was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and former member of Maplewood Lutheran Church. Lena, age 95, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Pelican Valley Nursing home in Pelican Rapids.She is survived by her 2 daughters: Rhoda Johnson of Pelican Rapids, and Aneta (Tracy) Gapp of Mesa, Arizona; son, Lewis Allen of Malott, Washington; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herb; granddaughter, Linda Gapp; 4 sisters: Olga Rud, Elida Westby, Mary Rud, and Lillian Carlson; 3 brothers: Martin Rud, Frederich Rud and Melvin Rud; son-in-law, Everett Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Lois Allen.Blessed Be The Memory Of Lena Allen
