Beatrice Trites

September 3, 1917 — April 18, 2007

Bea was born on September 3, 1917 in Maine, Minnesota, the fourth of eleven children to Van B. and Gladys Mary (Shepley) Trites. She was raised in Maine Township on a farm where taking care of chickens, pigs, cows, horses, and milk cows was the way of life. After high school she attended the University of Minnesota. Bea moved to Glasgow and taught Home Economics until she retired. She received her Masters in Education from Montana State University in 1963, and for 35 years put her heart and soul into teaching her students, boys, girls, and adult education students at Glasgow High School. She was active in Homemakers Club, FFA, the Home Economist organization, Glasgow Education Association, American Association of University Women, Retired Teachers Association, and the First Congregational Church. Bea so graciously donated to the Glasgow Education Foundation.Bea also made several trips to Mexico doing missionary work. Her most lasting lesson may well be a living demonstration of the power of generous giving. She was an integral part of the Glasgow schools and community. Beatrice, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Montana. Survivors include her five brothers and sisters: Patricia Hunt of Minot, North Dakota, Chester Trites of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, Kenneth Trites of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Harry Trites of Mesa, Arizona, and Gladys Trites of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, several nieces and nephews, and a god-son, Steven Thompson of Glasgow, Montana. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Bernard, Fillmore, Russell, and Van Jr., and by a sister: Hulda Butcher.Blessed Be The Memory of Beatrice Trites
