Stella Knudson

Stella Frances Soland was born June 13, 1911, in Candor Township, near Vergas, Minnesota, the daughter of Andrew and Clara (Trosdahl) Soland. She attended the Strand country school near Crystal Lake. Before her marriage Stella worked at Dunn's Lodge and Resort on Lake Lizzie near Pelican Rapids. On August 4, 1932 Stella was united in marriage to Victor Knudson in South Dakota. Stella enjoyed her homemaking duties while raising her five children. Victor died on April 9, 1994. On June 29, 2004 Stella entered the St. Mary's Nursing Center.Stella enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, and entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She was a member of Ringsaker Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. She was active in Ladies Aid and Circle, and was a Cub Scout Leader.Stella, age 95, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.Stella is survived by her 2 sons: Victor (Karen) Knudson of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Jerry (Charlene) Knudson of Maple Grove, MN; 2 daughters: Ruth Gruenberg of Breckenridge, MN, and Jean (Gordon) Johnson of Henning, MN; 8 grandchildren: Kevin Gruenberg; Keith Gruenberg and his children: Kyle and Kelcie; Kara Gruenberg; Wanda (Mark) Sherven and their children: Heather, Brittany and Blake; Valerie (Randy) Schwartz and their daughter, Hailey; Kelly (David) Erwin and their children: Michael and Matthew; Andrea Knudson; and Stephanie Knudson; 2 sisters: Ruby Eggum of St. Paul, MN, and Donna Moltzan of Frazee, MN; 4 sisters-in-law: Eleanor Olsgaard of Fargo, ND, Evelyn Knudson of Pelican Rapids, Dorothy Soland of Pelican Rapids, and Glynice Soland of Detroit Lakes; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; son, Robert; grandson: Michael, 4 brothers: Joseph, Kenneth, Myrten, and Alroy Soland; sister, Fern Gruenberg; and son-in-law, Leonard Gruenberg.
