Marjorie Haugrud

October 26, 1919 — November 8, 2007

She was born October 26, 1916, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Jennie (Sherbrooke) and Carl Arvid Olson. She attended school in Cormorant, graduated from Pelican Rapids High School, and attended Moorhead State Teachers College, where she received her teaching degree. She taught in country schools near Ulen and Pelican Rapids. On August 25, 1940, Marjorie was united in marriage to Raymond Haugrud at Lake Ida Lutheran Church near Cormorant. After their marriage, they began farming in Norwegian Grove Township.Marjorie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids where she had many friends and served in a variety of capacities, including teaching Sunday School, working in women?s organizations, writing plays, and decorating the church. She had a passion for working with young people in 4-H, especially directing plays and writing demonstrations. Marjorie had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and was an avid gardener. With her love for all of God?s creations, she was gracious and kind to all living things. She also enjoyed literature, particularly poetry, and was a creative writer herself. She is survived by six children: Virginia Haugrud of Hawaii; Raychel (Rev. Paul) Haugrud Reiff of Superior, Wisconsin; Kathryn Haugrud of Lauderdale, Minnesota; Faythe (Rod) Kubik of Waterloo, Iowa; Thomas (Heather) Haugrud of Stillwater, Minnesota; and Jack (Cathy Pagano) Haugrud of Kensington, Maryland. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Shaun Tateishi; Peder, Daniel, Marija, and Rebekah Reiff; Bryn and Kari Haugrud; and Sammy Haugrud. She is also survived by a niece, Carol Anderson McCuen, and a nephew, Steven Anderson.She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; and her sister, Genevieve Anderson Blessed Be The Memory Of Marjorie Haugrud
