Barbara "Barb" Anne (Engel) Lodin, 53, of Dilworth, MN, died on November 9, 2007,at the MeritCare Palliative Care Unit in Fargo surrounded by friends and family. Barb was born in Perham, MN, November 22, 1953 to Cordes and Lorraine Engel. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1971. Barb married Ed Lodin on May 28, 1977 in Thief River Falls, MN. She worked a number of jobs in Thief River Falls until moving to Moorhead, MN. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant with Moorhead Public Service for 30 years. Barb loved spending time with her husband at their farm in Dent, MN. Her passions were gardening and feeding and befriending all the wild animals, especially the chipmunks. She befriended so many people that she could travel to the other side of the country and still run into someone she knew. When you met her for the first time, chances were she would know someone you knew. Barb was very involved in Ducks Unlimited (DU) and IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals). Barb joined DU in 1989 and held many offices over the years including State Ladies Chair, Area Chair, Zone Chair, Registration Chair and State Treasurer. She joined the Red River Valley Chapter of IAAP in 1993 where she also held many offices such as Chapter Treasurer, Chapter President, Division Treasurer and Division Secretary. She was Professional Secretary of the Year in 1997 and received her CPS (Certified Professional Secretary) in 1991. She was a member of the Moorhead Police volunteers and attended the Clay County Sheriff's Academy.Barb is survived by her husband, Ed Lodin of Dilworth; her parents, Cordes and Lorraine Engel, Dent, MN; her brother Bruce Engel of Rancho Cordova, CA; her sisters Diane (Bill) Gusa of Mt. Vernon, WA; Joan (Paul) Roemer of Winona, MN; Roberta (Dennis) Welgraven of Chandler, MN; and Jackie Engel of Fargo, ND. Also surviving Barb are 10 nieces and nephews.
