Norma Kowalski, age 78, a resident of rural Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Monday, November 19, 2007, at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, MN.Norma Wanda Mohagen was born June 10, 1929, in Wahpeton, ND, the daughter of Norman and Olga (Ewert) Mohagen. In 1947 she graduated from Elbow Lake High School and then attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Breckenridge, MN, graduating in 1950. After graduation she worked at Wrights Hospital in Fergus Falls, for two years. On October 9, 1952 Norma was united in marriage to Louis Kowalski at St. Leonard?s Catholic Church in Pelican Rapids. Louis and Norma lived and worked on the family dairy farm until their retirement. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.Norma?s greatest joy was caring for her family. She enjoyed crocheting countless afghans to share with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening. Norma was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. She had been an organist for 40 years. Norma is survived by her husband, Louis of Pelican Rapids; 5 children: Cheryl (John) Ross of Maple Plain, MN; Gary (Roberta) Kowalski of Pelican Rapids; Tim Kowalski of Fargo, ND; Kevin (Edie) Kowalski of Fergus Falls, MN; and Karen Kowalski of Fergus Falls; 14 grandchildren: Scott and Travis Ross; Paul, Mark and Anna Kowalski; Christopher, Kelsey, Marissa and Alaina Kowalski; Brandon, Andrew, Daniel and Sarah Kowalski and Anthony Hensel; brother, Roger (Marianne) Mohagen of Roseville, MN; and 2 sisters-in-law: Margaret Thorpe of Rothsay, MN, and Evelyn (Ellis) Olsen of Vancleave, Mississippi.
