Raymond Clauson

Raymond Tyler Clauson was born January 23, 1918 in Scambler township near Pelican Rapids the son of Morgan and Olava (Swenson) Clauson. He was baptized and confirmed at Grove Lake Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids. He attended district #183 country school in Scambler township. Raymond served his military duty for the United States Army. On October 27, 1946 Ray was united to Jean Erickson on the Siggerud farm near Pelican Rapids. Ray farmed his entire life near Pelican Rapids. Ray also worked for Trosvik turkey farms, ABS (American Breeders Service), and raised mink. In October 2007 Raymond entered the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids and on December 19, 2007 relocated to the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids. Raymond was a lifelong member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church where he mowed the church cemeteries for over 18 years. Ray enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his favorite phrase, "Go Around The Tree."On Friday, December 21, 2007 Raymond died at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids at the age of 89 years. Raymond is survived by his wife: Jean, Pelican Rapids; daughter: Cindy Baggenstos, Pelican Rapids; 2 granddaughters: Missy (Allen) Poncelet, Akeley, MN, and Maren (Jerry) Howe, Vergas, MN; 3 great-granddaughters: Alyson, Alexis, and Lechia; 5 sisters: Iola Erickson, Pelican Rapids, Freda Kaltvedt, Pelican Rapids, Dolly Amundson, Pelican Rapids, Marlys (Richard) Jennen, Elbow Lake, MN, and Arlene (Miff) Stephenson, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces and nephews.Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Robert Baggenstos; sisters: Clarice Anderson, Ellen Hushagen, Verna Clauson, and Louise Baxter; brothers: Morris, Oren, Walter, and Charles.
