Norman Pierce, age 81, a resident of rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home.Norman Elroy Pierce was born September 17, 1926 in Pelican Rapids, the son of Leslie and Mary (Brown) Pierce. He grew up on a farm east of Pelican Rapids. On March 1, 1947 Norman was united in marriage to DeLoris "Toots" Robley in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1948 Norman worked for the Division of Water Resources and Engineering. It became part of the DNR Fisheries a year later. Then he worked as a laborer for the DNR. After a year Norman was promoted to building foreman, and in 1954 he was promoted to equipment operator. In 1960 he became a building maintenance foreman, the position he held until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement, Norman and DeLoris owned and operated the Pelican Recreation in Pelican Rapids.Norman enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.Norman is survived by 3 sons: Bruce (Debbie) Pierce of Thief River Falls, MN, Les (Kari) Pierce of Pelican Rapids; Norman "Bud" Jr. (Patsy) Pierce of Fergus Falls, MN; a daughter: Bobbie (Gary) Rockne of West Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren: Stacy (Troy) Gleason, Rochelle (Todd) Emslander, Ryan (Jesse Krueger-Pierce) Pierce, Kealy Pierce, and Lance Pierce; 6 great-grandchildren: Zach and Abbie Emslander, Parker and Cade Gleason, and Landyn and Kendall Krueger-Pierce; and several nieces and nephews;He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, DeLoris; and 2 sisters: Cleo King and Marilyn Hudson.Blessed Be The Memory Of Norman Pierce
