Delores Heusser

Delores "Delly" Heusser, age 81, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at MeritCare in Fargo, North Dakota.Delores Olson was born April 2, 1927 in Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Emil and Linda (Granstrom) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Central Lutheran Church in rural Pelican Rapids. Delores attended school in Pelican Rapids and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. Delores worked for JP Wallace State Bank, Dr. Korda, and Dr. Kaliher, all in Pelican Rapids. In 1950 she moved to Tillamook, Oregon to work for Dr. Kaliher. On September 7, 1951 Delores was united in marriage to Gail Vernon Heusser at Central Lutheran Church. They made their home in Oregon until 1957, when they moved back to Pelican Rapids and she again worked as clinical secretary for Dr. Korda. She also worked at St. Mary's Hospital, Detroit Lakes; the Pelican Valley Clinic, the Good Samaritan Center; and MeritCare, all in Pelican Rapids. Gail died on May 8, 1985.Delly's first love was her faith and music that was shared with those she came in contact with. Throughout Delly's years of work and church, she touched almost every life in Pelican Rapids as she visited many shut-ins, caring for their needs. It was not unusual for Delly to work after hours helping patients with their paperwork. She also involved her family as she cared for the graves of those who had no family. She gave piano lessons, along with playing for the Pelican male chorus, and many weddings and funerals. Delly was organist for nearly 60 years in Tillamook, and at Faith Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids where she was a very active member. Delly always loved roses and enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Blacky. Delores is survived by her son, Jonathan Heusser of Pelican Rapids; 2 daughters: Sharris Heusser of Pensacola, Florida,and Susan (Tom) Heusser-Ladwig of Pelican Rapids; sister, Evelyn (Abner) Thoreson of Pelican Rapids; brother, Carlton Olson of Newport, Oregon; and numerous nieces, nephew, grandniece and grandnephews.
