Clayton Ishaug, age 73, a resident of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, formerly of Pelican Rapids, MN died on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.Clayton was born December 10, 1934, in Barnesville, Minnesota, the son of Oscar and Minnie (Hanson) Ishaug. He was baptized January 1, 1935, and confirmed on August 8, 1948, at West North Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. He attended school in District #48 through the 8th grade. He farmed with his father until entering the Army in December of 1955. He trained at Fort Benning, Georgia, for the Signal Corp. While in Japan at Camp Drake in Tokyo, Clayton served with the Signal Division as a Tele-type operator. On April 19, 1958, Clayton was united in marriage to Loretta Noyes at the Presbyterian Church in Baker, Minnesota. Upon discharge in 1957 he went to work for Dakota Plate Glass Company in Fargo, North Dakota as a glazier until 1972. In 1973 he went to work for Fargo Glass & Paint. In December 1990, Clayton was injured in an auto accident, which left him disabled with a closed head injury. He entered Maplewood Hearth, near Pelican Rapids, in August of 1995; Ottertail Nursing Home in July of 2001; and the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls in February of 2002.Clayton was a life-long member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church formerly serving on the church council. One of his favorite hobbies was reading; especially, World War II stories.Clayton is survived by his wife, Loretta; two daughters: Connie (Wade) Zinnecker, Billings, Montana, Carol (Shane) OSullivan, Karratha, WA, Australia; three sons: Duane (Linda) Ishaug, Pelican Rapids, MN, David (Barb Kako) Ishaug, Fergus Falls, MN, Mark Ishaug, Westminister, Colorado; three grandchildren: Tara Zinnecker, Colin Zinnecker, and Melissa Ishaug Hanson; step-grandson, Samuel OSullivan, Brisbane, Australia; two sisters: Mavis Erickson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Arlene Delp, Pelican Rapids, MN; two nephews, Gregory and David Erickson, Pelican Rapids, MN; and numerous cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin Ishaug; brother-in-law, Orville Erickson.Blessed Be The Memory of Clayton Ishaug
