Ordean Westby, age 80, a resident of rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at Innovis Health in Fargo, North Dakota.Ordean James Westby was born November 6, 1928, in Gilby, North Dakota, the son of Carl and Selma (Hegrenes) Westby.He was baptized in his grandparents home in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.Ordean moved with his parents to Maplewood Township at age two weeks.He was confirmed at Central Lutheran Church and attended District #156 South for eight years and Crookston Agricultural College. On December 3, 1955, Ordean was united in marriage to Audrey Rollie at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids. Ordean farmed his entire life on the Westby family farm in rural Pelican Rapids.He enjoyed ice fishing and deer hunting with friends and riding his John Deere Gator. He dearly loved his sons, daughter-in-laws, his precious grandchildren and their spouses and significant others.He served on the church council, cemetery board, Maplewood Township board and Park Region Oil board for numerous years.His legacy to others is A job worth doing is worth doing well.Ordean is survived by his wife, Audrey; six sons: Michael (Pam) Westby, Sparta, Wisconsin, Bob (Dawn) Westby, Erhard, MN, Allen (Linda) Westby, Erhard, Minnesota, Peter (Jeannie) Westby, Pelican Rapids, MN, Pat (Cathy) Westby, Elbow Lake, Minnesota, Chris (Angie) Westby, Pelican Rapids, MN; 13 grandchildren:Andrea Westby, Tami (Jason) Johnson, Brooke Westby, Monica Westby, Luke (Sarah) Westby, Kate Westby, Kristin Westby, Sam Westby, Abbie Westby, Haley Westby, Faith Westby, Isaiah Westby and McKenna Westby; three sisters:Melinda (Harold) Carlson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Inez (LeRoy) Johnson, Sheridan, Wyoming, and Ann Westby, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.Ordean was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Selma; son, Steven; and sister, Lorraine Knutson.Blesses Be the Memory of Ordean Westby
