Erna Johnson, age 98, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.Erna Lillian Krebs was born September 28, 1910, in Pelican Rapids the daughter of George and Lydia (Boyer) Krebs.After attending country school through 8th grade she attended Pelican Rapids High School graduating in 1929.Erna worked at Oak Lodge Resort, near Pelican Rapids, where she met Francis Nelson in 1930.Erna and Francis were united in marriage on November 4, 1931 in the parsonage in Pelican Rapids.They farmed west of Pelican Rapids until they retired in 1971.Francis passed away in 1975.On October 22, 1983, Erna married James Johnson at Central Lutheran Church.James passed away in 1993.Erna lived in the Mill Street Apartments until entering the Good Samaritan Society of Pelican Rapids in July 2008.Erna was an avid gardener and seamstress, sewing for many people.She enjoyed her family and many friends.Erna is survived by her son, Paul (Valeria) Nelson, Pelican Rapids, MN; daughter, Sylvia (Larry) Gripentrog, Fergus Falls, MN; grandchildren: David (Pam) Nelson, Marshall, VA, Steven (Vera) Nelson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Lloyd (Donna) Nelson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Lyndon (LeAnn) Field, Dent, MN, Bill (Karen) Field, Erhard, MN, John (Lisa) Field, Dent, MN, Lori (Tom) Olson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Jenny (John) Opheim, Algona, IA; great-grandchildren:Erik Nelson, Justin Nelson, Samantha Nelson, Cassandra Nelson, Zachary Nelson, Francis Nelson, Sarah Nelson, Erin Nelson, Kraig Nelson, Shelby Nelson, Levi Field, Perry Field, Ryan Field, Eric Field, Mitchell Field, Ben Field, Amanda Field, Anna Hinsverk, Emily Olson, Kristopher Olson, Dillon Stave, Samantha Opheim, Colton Opheim; brother-in-law Donald Peck; step-daughter, Georgia Wood; four step-granddaughters; and one step-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, grandson, Anthony Field; sisters: Genevieve, Lenora, Frances, Alice, Marguerite; brothers: Arthur and Martin.Blessed Be the Memory of Erna Johnson
