Robert Erickson

Robert Bud Erickson, age 85, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home, Pelican Rapids.Robert Bud Siggerud Erickson was born August 27, 1923, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Carl George and Olivia (Siggerud) Erickson, the eighth of nine children.He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1941.From October 1944 to September 1947, he served in the U.S. Army.Bud was drafted into Co. B 126 Infantry 32nd Division, then joined the 65th Engineer Combat Battalion, spending almost two years in Japan. He delivered milk for Clarence Boe, drove milk truck for Duane Farnam, worked for many area farmers and was employed by Farmers Elevator from 1974 to 1985.On October 26, 1973, Bud was united in marriage to Hazel (Hanson) Rieman at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids.Bud and Hazel resided at Prairie Lake until moving to Mill Pond View Apartments in 1999.Bud entered Pelican Valley Nursing Home in March 2008.Hazel died July 29, 2008.Bud was a loving, devoted husband to Hazel.Bud will be remembered as a kind and helpful man.He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church.He liked anything John Deere and dogs.He enjoyed driving tractor and truck.Bud is survived by four step-daughters: Karen (Keith) Homan, Pelican Rapids, MN, Bev (Jim) Neuharth, Mendota Heights, MN, Phyllis (Roger) Bakken, Oakdale, MN, Connie (Larry) Schyma, Cottage Grove, MN; two sisters:Jean Clauson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Marian (Vic) Kruger, Ponte Vedra, FL; thirteen step-grandchildren: Brad (Julie) Homan, Blake (Jessica) Homan, Nancy (Jeff) Litvack, Steven Neuharth, Michael Neuharth, Peter Neuharth, Sarah Neuharth, Greg (Cathy) Bakken, Jeff (Kirsten) Bakken, Darin Bakken, Angie Schyma, Teri Schyma, Dan Schyma; ten step-great-grandchildren:Emily and Alec Homan, Rachel and Gavin Homan, Oliver and Norah Litvack, Jackson Neuharth, Devon Bakken, Jack and Charlie Bakken; and many nieces and nephews.Bud was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel; three sisters:Harriet Jacobs, Evelyn Johnson, Olive Thompson; three brothers:Bill, Tom and Jens Erickson.Blessed Be the Memory of Bud Erickson
