Robert Irey, age 82, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.Robert Arnold Irey was born January 22, 1926, in Friberg Township, Minnesota, the son of Jack (John) and Olga (Jorgenson) Irey.Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II, spending time overseas in Japan.For several years, he hauled for International Transport, based in Rochester, MN.Robert owned and operated a trucking company for West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids.He also hauled grain from area elevators to terminals in Duluth, MN, Superior, WI, and the Twin Cities area.On April 5, 1963, Robert was united in marriage to Shirley Ishaug Toso in Pelican Rapids. .Robert enjoyed woodworking and playing cards.He took pride in landscaping his yard, especially his trimming his shrubbery.Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Scott (Karen) Irey, West Fargo, ND; step-daughter, Diane (Craig) Larson, Fargo, ND; step-son, Dale (Deb) Toso, Emporia, KS; grandchildren: Chelsea Toso and Justin Toso; sister-in-law, Sandy Irey; niece, Ann Irey Henderson; nephews: Steve Irey and Craig Irey; aunts: LaVerne Satter, Marion Waller, Helen Salness; and many cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Irey.Blessed Be the Memory of Robert Irey
