Angeline "Angie" Pixley

Angeline Angie Pixley, age 91, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Good Samaritan Society in Pelican Rapids.Angeline Viola Grosz was born August 8, 1917, in Washburn, North Dakota, the daughter of Adam and Katherine (Lang) Grosz.Angie was baptized, confirmed and educated in Washburn.She helped her mother run their boarding house and it is there she met Les Pixley.On May 20, 1936, she married Leslie B. Pixley in Fargo, North Dakota.They lived in Fargo until Les was drafted into the U. S. Army during WWII.During that time, Angie worked at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado, and at Camp Stoneman, California, as a dental assistant. Following Les return from Italy in 1946, they returned to Fargo where they resided until 1959 when they moved to the Pelican Rapids area. Angie worked at Swan Drug and for Dr. H. R. Borg until her retirement.In July of 2005, she entered the Good Samaritan Society due to failing health.Angie was beautiful inside and out and like a true friend, she was thoughtful, always encouraging and possessed a quality that was kind and generous in nature.Her graciousness was appreciated by all who knew her.Her family brought her much joy and happiness.Angie enjoyed going to church, playing cards, cooking, crocheting and visiting with her friends.She had a wonderful appreciation for life.She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.Angie is survived by her daughter, Susan Nelson, Ellensburg, WA; two sons: Dale (Darlene) Pixley, Moorhead, MN, James (Karen) Pixley, Pelican Rapids, MN; eight grandchildren: Douglas Pixley, David (Darcy) Pixley, Daryl Pixley, Daniel (Megan Harthun) Pixley, Eric Nelson, Kyla (Charlie) Brown, Sarah Pixley, Adam Pixley; ten great-grandchildren: Christopher (Callie), Mariah, Jenna, Dalton, Dakota, Danielle, Daisha, Cody, Cassie and Addison; two great-great-grandchildren: Alexandrea and Izak; one sister, Eldora Ehrlich, Antioch, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Katherine Grosz; husband, Leslie Pixley; step-father, George Schickel; two sisters: Martha Brunmeier and Annetta Anderson.Blessed Be the Memory of Angie Pixley
